The aquarium is the only institution outside of Asia that houses whale sharks, which are kept in a 6.3 million US gallons (24,000 m3) exhibit—the aquarium was designed around the whale shark exhibit. Their importation from Taiwan (by air, truck, and boat) had never been attempted previously. Head to the 4-D theater for an immersive underwater adventure you have to see and feel, to believe, or stop off at the tide pools where you can touch the smooth shells of horseshoe crabs or the fuzzy legs of sea stars. Before you leave, do not forget to swing by the dolphin tank to watch and learn about the playful antics of bottlenose dolphins.
