BOSTON NEW ENGLAND AQUARIUM STEM PROGRAM

5 DAYS/4 NIGHTS

ITINERARY

DAY 01: ARRIVAL AT BOSTON

Meet at the School and proceed to Atlanta Airport.

Tour Manager will meet the group at school.

Flight # TBD; departs from ATL Airport.

Arrive at Boston Airport; proceed to guided city tour of Boston.

Meet the Tour Guide at the Airport/Trinity Church and proceed to 3 hour guided city tour. 

City Tour Highlights:

  • Stop at historic Trinity Church.
  • Stop at Cambridge.
  • Louisa May Alcott’s Orchard House (Stop – outside only)
  • The Wayside Home of Authors (Drive by)
  • Concord River Bridge (Drive by)
  • Ralph Waldo Emerson House (Drive by)
  • Beacon Hill & West End Neighborhoods (Drive-through)
  • Famous King Street (Drive by)
  • And many more

Proceed to hotel & check in.

Stay overnight at Boston.

 

DAY 02: HARVARD UNIVERCITY GUIDED TOUR

Today after breakfast proceed to Harvard University Guided Tour. The award-winning tours of America’s most prestigious University are led by current Harvard students. The 70-minute walking tours launch daily and are scripted as a theatrical experience.

Later visit Boston Tea Party Museum for the field trip. Students will play an active role in a riveting reenactment of the historic town meeting held just hours before the Boston Tea Party. They will storm down to Griffin’s Wharf and board one of our authentic replica vessels where they will cast off the yoke of tyranny by throwing the Crown’s tea into Boston Harbor.

Later, visit the Bunker Hill Monument. The Bunker Hill Monument stands tall at 221 feet. It stands on the site of the first major battle of the American Revolution, fought on Breed’s Hill, June 17, 1775.

Group also can visit Quincy Market if time permits.

Stay overnight in Boston.

Add on:

  • Dinner Cruise Tour at night can be added as additional based on request.
  • Boston Red Sox baseball game.

DAY 03: NEW ENGLAND AQUARIUM STEM PROGRAM

After breakfast, proceed to New England Aquarium to Participate in STEM Program

Program Name: New! Beach STEM

Grade levels: Toddlers (15 mo-3 yrs) Preschool/PreK (3-5 yrs)

K-2nd grade, 3rd-5th grade

New England Aquarium’s new Beach STEM traveling education program! Youth will learn about our local beach habitat and the animals that live there through exploration of hands-on activity stations. These age-appropriate activities will engage youth in the STEM skills and practices that will help them become future ocean problem-solvers while increasing their understanding and appreciation for our natural world.

Please note that to ensure proper water temperature conditions for our animals during the warmest time of year, live animals will be included in this program only if the program is held in an indoor, air-conditioned space. If an adequate space is not available, an alternate activity station will be provided.

Session time:

Toddlers – 30 minutes

All other age groups – 45 minutes

Note: Toddlers – up to 20 per session, All other age groups– up to 30 per session

Program Name: Engineering and Erosion

Grade levels: 2nd –8th grade

This program challenges students to address the issues of local coastal erosion through the engineering design process, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration. Students work as teams employing engineering design to plan, test, and present their solutions to limit the erosion of sand from their own section of simulated sandy coastline.

Note: Maximum 30 students per session

In the evening, proceed to the hotel. Stay overnight in Boston.

 

DAY 04: PAUL REVERE’S BOSTON – WALKING TOUR

After breakfast, proceed to Paul Revere’s Boston walking tour.

Explore Paul Revere’s home and neighborhood. This tour includes stops at the locations of Revere’s silversmith shop and foundry, Boston’s waterfront, Copp’s Hill Cemetery and outside the Old North Church. As they explore the North End, students gather details about Revere’s life by inspecting prints and reproduction artifacts and discover how Revere used Boston’s geography to his advantage.

 Pre-visit materials provided.   

Class Size: Up to 20 students per tour.

Duration: 90 Mins

Later, visit Skywalk Observatory.

In the evening, return to the hotel. Stay overnight in Boston. 

DAY 05: DEPARTURE FROM BOSTON

Breakfast & checkout from the hotel. Depart for home.

Flight # TBD; departs from Boston Airport.

Arrives at Atlanta Airport.

Meet the driver outside of the airport terminal and proceed to school.
