ITINERARY

DAY 01: ARRIVAL AT AUCKLAND

Upon completion of custom formalities, you will be transferred to the hotel on a seat-in-coach.

Enjoy the rest of the at leisure.

Overnight in Auckland.

DAY 02: AUCKLAND – WAITOMO – ROTORUA

Breakfast at the hotel.

This morning  you will be picked up from your hotel by a seat-in-coach bus and be transferred to Rotorua.  Leaving Auckland in the morning you travel through the Waikato and King Country regions, passing by flourishing farmland and picturesque countryside. On arrival in the small town of Waitomo, take a trip underground with a 45-minute guided tour through the world famous Waitomo Glowworm Caves, a series of limestone caves formed over 30 million years ago. Learn all about stalagmites, stalactites and other intriguing rock formations as you walk through the caverns. Finish the tour with an enchanting boat ride through the Glowworm Grotto, illuminated by thousands of tiny glowworms. Continue to Rotorua, proceed to do the check-in at the hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

DAY 03: ROTORUA – MATAMATA – AUCKLAND

Breakfast at the hotel.

This morning  you will be picked-up from your hotel by a seat-in-coach bus and be transferred to Auckland. Your full day tour begins with a morning sightseeing tour around three of Rotorua’s iconic visitor attractions. Visit the cultural centre at Te Puia and gain an insight into Māori traditions and ways of life, before entering a geothermal wonderland of impressive geysers and boiling mud pools. See New Zealand’s agricultural industry in action with a sheep-shearing display and sheep dog trials at the Agrodome. Then visit Rainbow Springs, a nature park which showcases native flora and fauna including the famous New Zealand kiwi.

Following the show, enjoy a scenic drive across the Kaimai Ranges to the picturesque 1,250 acre far near Matamata where  scenes from the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies were filmed. Take a guided tour and learn how this working farm was transformed into The Shire from Middle-earth. Your guide will show you Hobbit holes, the Green Dragon Inn, the Mill and many other structures from the movies. Continue your journey to Auckland.

DAY 04: AUCKLAND – DAY TRIP TO THE BLACK SAND BEACHES

Breakfast at the hotel.

This morning depart for your day trip to the Black Sand Beaches. Including Piha, Muriwai, Bethells, Whatipu and also to the iconic Kitekite Falls in the Waitakere rain forest. This tour includes swimming, hiking, scrambling and active exploring of these amazing locations. Come prepared for an adventure in some of the most beautiful beaches you will find anywhere. The sand is black, the surf is big, and the experience is one you won’t forget.

DAY 05: AUCKLAND – QUEENSTOWN (FLIGHT)

Breakfast at the hotel.  

Today you will be picked up by a shuttle coach and transferred to Auckland Airport for your flight to Queenstown (flight not included). A shuttle coach will transfer you to the hotel. The town is built around an inlet and Lake Wakatipu. With views of the remarkable, Cecil Peak, Walter Peak and more, it is a popular destination for adventurous climbers, skiers, and hikers.

DAY 06: QUEENSTOWN

Breakfast at the hotel.

Today its free for you to explore Queenstown on your own with  exciting optional tours.

Overnight in Qeenstown.

DAY 07: QUEENSOWN – MILFORD SOUND – QUEENSTOWN

An early start following the shores of Lake Wakatipu, and through Te Anau where you will be enthralled by the immense landscape. Travel through beech forest, passing majestic mountains, on through the Homer Tunnel in time to board your catamaran for the Milford Sound cruise. Cruise past Mitre Peak, the highest mountain in the world to rise vertically from the sea and admire the Stirling and Bowen Waterfalls as you cruise out to sea. Return to the pier for the coach back to Queenstown.

Overnight in Queenstown.

DAY 08: QUEENSTOWN – FRANZ JOSEF

Travel through the Kawarau Gorge past Lake Dunstan on towards Wanaka. A stop is made in Makarora before crossing the Southern Alps as you enter the Haast Pass. At Knights Point you can view magnificent seascapes. From here pass Lakes Moeraki and Paringa then past Bruce Bay to arrive at the Glaciers.

DAY 09: FRANZ JOSEF

Enjoy a full day at leisure.

DAY 10: FRANZ JOSEF – GREYMOUTH

After breakfast, we will continue our journey up the West Coast via Hokitika to Greymouth. Join the TranzAlpine train at Greymouth for a spectacular journey through gorges, river valleys and farmland plains . Overnight stay in Greymouth (coach passengers only). (Self-drivers travel via Arthurs Pass road en route to Christchurch).

DAY 11: CITY TOUR

After Breakfast, today we will depart for Christchurch. Upon arrival, enjoy a sightseeing tour including the International Antarctic Centre. The tour takes you around the city’s highlights and historic sites such as the Botanic Gardens, the Avon River and Canterbury Museum. When leaving the inner city, the tour takes in several parks and gardens including Mona Vale Gardens and Hagley Park before heading to the Port Hills for spectacular views over the city and Canterbury Plains to the Southern Alps.

Overnight in Christchurch.

DAY 12: DEPARTURE FROM CHRISTCHURCH

Transfer to the airport for your departure flight (Self-drive passengers return your car directly at the airport).
